The Pekel namesake has been associated with the construction industry for four generations. Our remodeling firm started business in 1995, twenty-two years ago, with one staff member and has developed into a recognized and trusted leader in the remodeling industry.

David Pekel, MCR, UDCP, CAPS, CCP, CLSR, the President/CEO of PEKEL CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING, INC. is one of less than 100 Master Certified Remodelers in the United States and a National Officer, President Elect, of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, NARI. In addition, to being a Master Certified Remodeler, David is a Universal Design Certified Professional, a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, a Certified Construction Professional, and a Certified Lead Safe Renovator. He has been recognized by four past NARI Presidents on five different occasions since 1999 with the associations esteemed President’s Award for his “extraordinary service and leadership to the remodeling industry “.

We take pride in our staff who contribute to our success, they include Mona Pekel, Vice President of Administration and co-owner with 30 years of experience, in-house design staff, and our uniquely qualified in-house Lead and Field Carpenter staff. At a time when other firms are cutting their costs by eliminating their design and carpentry staff, Pekel continues to actively recruit skilled craftsman and artisans; seeking only the most experienced and customer oriented people available.

Personal and professional treatment begins with your initial contact and it carries through with each phase thereafter. David Pekel himself takes personal interest in every project, ensuring that the promises made to clients are promises kept. In many instances he functions as the senior lead designer with the support of very creative associates.

How we work

After an initial consultation where you’ll decide if our firm and how we work is a good fit, the next step to get your project rolling is entering into a Professional Services Agreement/Design Retainer with us. 

The Professional Services Agreement/Design Retainer, (PSA), is comprised of several parts. It includes a description of your project, the proposed or the estimated budget cost range, and three specific phases of work that will be accomplished.

  • The first phase is the Schematic Design Development Documents. These consist of the design drawings and other documents which illustrate the scale, arrangement, and relationship of the project components. Your project is custom designed and presented to you in a 3D photo rendered computer aided design format (CAD), making the designs not only exciting to see for the first time, but extremely easy to visualize and to understand.
  • Next is the Preliminary Budget Estimate. This step determines the actual funds required to complete the project based upon the Design Development Documents. This process often includes an onsite visit with all of our mechanical and trade partners that will be engaged on the project. This helps to eliminate surprises and provides the basis for the actual project budget cost and the specifications that are necessary for the last element of the PSA.
  • The third phase is the Construction Development Documents: These documents are made up of the drawings and specifications setting forth in detail the requirements for the construction of the project, the allowance amounts included for your product selections, terms and conditions, and other required details that comprise your proposal for the project.

There is a fee for the Professional Services Agreement/Design Retainer, it is determined by the scope of the project, its complexity, and the amount of time required to put it all together for you.

With your acceptance of the proposal your project will be placed into our production schedule and we will let you know when you can expect us to start and when you can anticipate the completion of your project, (a handy bit of information). 

It’s our experience that communication and an open dialog throughout your project is as important as the results of our craftsmanship. You can depend on us doing our part, which is one of the reasons so many of our clients are delighted to have us as their remodeler for life.

To provide the best outcome for your project it means that many hands and eyes have to stay on the ball. We’d love to work where ever the need presents itself but we can’t.
